In light of the continuing wide controversy due to the movie “Friends and Dearest”, which was subjected to many criticisms, especially in the Egyptian society, in which some considered it contrary to reality, the artist George Khabbaz commented on the matter.
Khabbaz confirmed that the work has achieved great success and millions of views since its release last week.
Regarding the controversy raised, he indicated in a radio interview to the “Al-Mukhtar” program with the Syrian journalist Basil Mahrez that “what is happening of uproar and controversy is positive, work that does not raise controversy is incomplete work, but expressing opinions and criticism is supposed to be away from offensive and rude comments that She bears a slander and slander once morest the makers of the work.”
Khabbaz, who is one of the heroes of working with Nadine Labaki, Adel Karam, Mona Zaki, Fouad Yammine, Diaman Bou Abboud and Iyad Nassar, added: “The work raises humanitarian issues that are not exclusive to one society without another, and the evidence for this is that nineteen countries reproduced it with their own vision. .but what is different is the audience receiving the work,” referring to the film being a remake of the Italian movie “Perfect Strangers” but in the Arabic version.
As for the difference between showing cinema on platforms and showing it in halls, Khabbaz said: “Every audience has, and platforms today offer artistic content to the recipient while he is at his home, facilitating dissemination and access, and the standards of artwork do not differ according to the platform as long as it is professional and respectful of the recipient.” .
