Diablo 4 wants to motivate players in the long run with new seasons. But what about big expansions like Reaper of Souls or Lord of Destruction?

Berlin – Diablo 4 will be a live service game and will continuously provide players with fresh content beyond the release. But what does that actually look like? After launch, what can Diablo 4 fans and players expect in terms of new content? Ingame.de asked Blizzard in an interview.

Diablo 4 Post Launch Content: Seasons, Addons, Extensions? This is how it will continue after release

Where does the information come from? Shortly before the Start of the Diablo 4 Open Beta on March 24th, ingame.de Blizzard was able to elicit some fresh details about Diablo 4 in an interview. The interview partners were:

  • Joe Shely, the game director of Diablo 4
  • and Rod Fergusson, the general manager of the Diablo series

The information comes directly from first hand. It was particularly exciting to see whether major expansions / add-ons in the style of Reaper of Souls (Diablo 3) and Lord of Destruction (Diablo 3) are planned for Diablo 4.

This is what players can expect from Diablo 4 after release: What was already known: Diablo 4 will be a live service game and will follow Release am 6. Juni 2023 are regularly supplied with fresh content. In addition to seasons, this also includes live events, new features or additional story content. A new season is scheduled to start every 3 months. There will also be a season pass for Diablo 4.

This is what we know so far about the Diablo 4 Season Pass

With the Season Pass you will be able to unlock all kinds of new cosmetics, premium currency or XP boosts. On the one hand, the pass comes as a free variant, on the other hand in a paid premium version (costs around $10, euro price should be the same). With the Premium Battle Pass you only get cosmetic items, nothing gameplay-relevant.

But what about big extensions like the predecessors? Is there something similar planned? Or will Blizzard just focus on the seasonal model?

Commented Rod Fergusson: “The launch of Diablo 4 is just the beginning and sets the foundation for the future. Diablo 4 will be supported for years – on the one hand through seasonal content and features, on the other hand through expansions [also Erweiterungen/Add-ons – Anm.d.Red.].“

How the whole thing looks in scope and detail, there will be more information at a later date. But it’s officially clear: Diablo 4 will also get larger expansions – and this news is new.

  • Start: 03/24/2023 at 5:00 p.m. German time.
  • End: March 27, 21:00 German time
  • Start of preload (all platforms): March 22 at 5:00 p.m. German time
