Merdeka.com – Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir alluded to the possibility of removing the position of the Board of Directors of PT Pertamina (Persero) following the severe fire that hit the Plumpang Fuel Oil Terminal (TBBM), Jakarta North, on Friday (3/3) evening.
“If I always say, I’ve already been removed from Pertamina’s board of directors. If I want to be removed once more, let’s removed once more,” he told the media crew at Pertamina Central Hospital (RSPP) South Jakarta, Saturday (4/3).
Even so, Erick admitted that the removal of the Pertamina Board of Directors position was not a guarantee to prevent a similar tragedy from happening once more in the future. He himself considered that improving the operational system as a whole was even more important than simply removing directors’ seats.
“It’s useless for us to dislodge people, but we don’t provide a comprehensive solution. It’s just a matter of context, there is an integrated system that solves the issue,” he explained.
Erick asked Pertamina to create a risk business system to ensure that business operations run smoothly. With this, the company is expected to not only focus on strengthening financial risk.
“Like MIND ID, Pertamina, PLN must form what is called a business risk team. Not only financial but operational as a whole,” he said.
