This Wednesday in the Encuentro interview with Julio Villagrán, Marisela Ramirez, a member of the leadership team of the Popular Resistance Block (BRP), believes that the government has a strategy to intervene at the University of El Salvador, seeking its total and definitive closure.

“The government intends for the UES to be closed because in the end universities can always become a hotbed of debate, analysis and deep reflection.” Ramirez points out.

For Ramirez, the use of the alma mater’s facilities as a hotel aims to limit the spaces for students in their academic development.

He also recalled the promises that Nayib Bukele made when he was a presidential candidate in 2019. Among those promises was the demand for a decent budget for the UES, but so far he has done the opposite.

“The president made 15 promises for the UES, direct support in the budget issue, the construction of a super library, the construction of new headquarters, the improvement of facilities, contrary to fulfilling any promise, what has happened is a cuts in education and a debt of 52 million… We cannot wait for a society to advance in scientific, academic and social terms if we do not really bet on free, quality public education, which builds that thought and identity as Salvadorans” recalled Marisela Ramirez.

On another issue, for the BRP member, it is the companies that should cover all the financing of the nation’s budget, since they are the ones who become rich at the expense of the labor of Salvadorans and guarantee an increase in wages. minimum.

Furthermore, he points out that this does not happen due to the unequal system that El Salvador experiences, where the government enriches the rich more and impoverishes the poor more, which has an impact on the youth who do not see themselves projected in the country and choose to migrate. .
