this gaming screen seems to bring everything together to become a reference

AOC is in Palma to unveil a new range of PC monitors. At the top of them, an Oled screen that seems to bring together great features without blowing up the bill. Judge instead.

PC screens have been evolving for a few years. We are moving towards larger and larger panels, with more pixels, more precise colors and more and more fluidity. This progress is notably marked by the arrival, finally, of Oled panels which have already found their place in our smartphones and our televisions.

When it comes to monitors, it’s hard not to cross paths with the Chinese giant AOC and its gaming brand AGON. The manufacturer unveiled its first Oled monitor this weekend, here is the AOC Agon Pro AG276QZD.

Oled, QHD and 240 Hz: what is it missing?

Looking at the technical sheet, we can say that AOC seems to have done everything to create the ideal monitor in 2023. We are indeed talking about a 27-inch LG Oled panel with a definition of 2560 x 1440 pixels and a rate refresh rate up to 240 Hz.

We were able to see the screen in action for a few minutes. The edges around the screen are very thin and the design rather neat. We appreciate the ergonomic foot which allows you to correctly adjust the height and direction of the screen for your view.

The connection consists of a DisplayPort 1.4 port and two HDMI 2.0 ports. We also have the right to a complete USB hub with 4 ports.

The only downside noted during our quick test, an HDR that seemed quite light to us. We will have to wait for the tests to be sure, but the DisplayHDR 400 certification (instead of 1000 on other high-end screens such as the Alienware QD-OLED) did not reassure us. According to the brand, which we asked about the subject, it would be a question of color coverage. The screen is given for 98.5% of the DCI-P3 while the DisplayHDR 600 and 1000 certifications would require coverage greater than 100 or even 120%.

Launch in June at a psychological price

AOC announces that its Agon Pro AG276QZD screen will be marketed at 999 euros in Europe and from June 2023. This is obviously expensive for a monitor, but rather competitive for an OLED screen with such a display frequency.

If HDR manages to convince us, this screen could well become the high-end reference for video games. Especially if you don’t want a curved screen.
