Here is the return d’Hypershell, an exoskeleton project which is not intended to transport heavy loads for workers or for the needs of armies, but for leisure. The idea is far-fetched, but rather attractive since the project was financed to the tune of a million dollars by numerous contributors on Kikstarter. Futura detailed the operation and characteristics of the Omega model unveiled last March in the article below. Three models were also to be marketed from last September, but the company had not yet finished its prototyping. For all its versions, the light and compact equipment piloted by IAIA promised to give human legs the strength of those of a horse to climb mountains with a heavy backpack.

The Chinese company behind the project is now preparing to unveil its latest two new functional features at the next CES 2024 in Las VegasVegas. These two models are called ProX and GoX. If the characteristics of the second are not yet known, the first will be quite close to the Omega prototype. It is therefore designed for runners, long-distance hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts. It will deliver the equivalent of 1 hp, or 800 wattswatts of motor power in the legs to accompany and support them via one motorized joint and eight other passive joints.

The accessory will compensate up to 30 kilos of load, which allows you to carry a large and heavy backpack without tiring yourself out during long and steep hikes. The ProX improves anticipation and adaptation to its user’s movements, thanks to its integrated AI. It can operate up to temperatures of -20° and is splash-proof. Unlike exoskeletonsexoskeletons used in other sectors, despite its capabilities, the ProX weighs only two kilos. It folds up completely to be carried on the backpack when not in use. The other important improvement comes from its battery. It has a greater capacity, which allows the range to be extended up to 35 kilometers. The brand’s models, which were originally supposed to start at less than 300 euros, are being announced at much higher prices, ranging from 600 to 1,300 dollars.

Your hikes will be more efficient and less tiring with this light and discreet exoskeleton

How to cover 25 kilometers on foot carrying a large backpack in the mountains, without straining or getting tired? Assisting walking is precisely what Hypershell offers with its light and discreet Omega exoskeleton.

In the 1970s, The Man Who Was Worth Three Billion was an American series whose hero was Steve Austin. After crashing, this test pilot was fitted with bionic prosthetics. They came to increase his physical strength tenfold to run faster, lift very heavy loads… It was fifty years ago and it was science fiction.

Today, it is not with three billion dollars, but rather a few hundred that almost everyone can boost their performance thanks to an exoskeleton. That ofHypershell is specifically designed to give a boost to your performance in the mountains and trail, that is to say leisure activities. Because exoskeletons are often serious.

They generally confine themselves to the professional world, or to waging war. For leisure and the general public, the Chinese company Hexoshell therefore offers its Omega exoskeleton at an affordable price. Weighing only two kilos, it is lightweight and designed to be easily transportable. In this way, it is possible to use it for the most arduous stages of a mountain climb, for example. Folded, the Omega can therefore fit in a backpack of less than 7 liters. Unlike imposing exoskeletons, it is rather discreet.

Hiking assistance

The accessory adjusts to the size of the wearer’s legs and goes down from the outside of the thigh to attach at the top of the knees. The belt which carries the electronics, the motor and the batteries, has a |38b2a578130bf8773da96deab7ac6ac9|-magnesiummagnesium chassis. It ensures both robustness and lightness to the whole. It is an active joint which gives impulses to the eight other passive joints to train the legs. To assist it, the power of the magnet synchronous motor is only 1 hp. This is enough to deliver assistance of up to 33 kilos of thrust. With this Omega, the user fatigues less when he needs to carry his equipment or climb a steep slope. He can even run like an athlete at speeds of up to 20 km/h.

Its range is 25 kilometers and if this is not enough, it is possible to extend it by carrying additional batteries weighing 400 grams both. To ensure smooth movements, it is a combination of sensors sensors associated with artificial intelligence which is in operation. The assembly makes it possible to monitor torque, position and force to model walking and support it. All this is done in milliseconds via two integrated processors.

As for the price, for the moment, three models are offered by the brand. The first is announced for less than 300 dollars on Kickstarter. Its power is limited and its speed restricted to 12 km/h. The standard model standard model is the one whose top speed peaks at 20 km/h. It costs $100 more. Finally, the Carbon model, lighter by a few hundred grams, is sold for $790. These exoskeletons are planned for marketing from next September.
