If you’re still playing Elden Ring and you never think to stop we have good news for you. A new mod for PC lets you swap everything, from items to bosses. You can even make all the enemies that swarm the game Malenia. The result is a new game.
The mod is called Item and Enemy Randomizerand its creator Matt “thefifthmatt” Gruen announced in April. Its functions include randomly loading items from the environment, shops, and enemies, including items the character starts with and key game items.. Bosses can also be swapped. The level of all this exchange can be adjusted using various sliding menus, so you can control the chaos to some extent. It also includes an ideal option for fans of completism that forces you to obtain the seven great runes in order to face the final enemy.
“At its best, I hope the mod will give players the experience of discovery and adaptation that can’t be found in a normal second or third game,” Gruen explains.
Random deal systems have become very popular in games with high replay rates because they allow players who have mastered the mechaunique original have new challenges to face. This particular mod is only at version 0.41, but there is a schedule for future improvements and it is already compatible with cooperative play.
Gruen explains that he was inspired by the mod from rebirth of random objects that HotPocketRemix made for Dark Soulsand that actually inspired him to make other similar mods for Dark Souls 3 y Ax. His experience on those projects helped him tackle this one, which modifies a whopping 45,000 lines of code and 90,000 configuration files.
“Elden Ring is a complex and intricate game where 99% of the players never discover all the secrets there are. Modifying it requires a very different approach in both design and implementation,” adds Gruen. The thousands of hours the modding community has put into previous From Software games and the technical improvements of Elden Ring on these have allowed this mod to develop much faster. “The limitations that affected modding in previous games are gone,” says Gruen. “I believe that Elden Ring It has a great future in the thousands of ways people want to experience it.
