Bad news ! After Sony and Microsoft, another publisher seems ready to increase the price of its games!

80th games, soon the norm?

If you find that games are becoming less and less affordable, this article is not going to please you. It must be said that since the arrival of the new consoles, namely the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X | S, the price of games has slowly increased. This initiative, we owe it to Sony who considers that the cost of developing a game is increasingly high, and therefore that prices must be increased accordingly. From 70 euros therefore, PlayStation Studios games have gone to 80 euros. Of course, this did not please the players.

However, despite fan dissatisfaction, other publishers and developers quickly decided to increase the price of its games, starting with Take-Two and more recently Microsoft. Indeed, the latest Xbox exclusive, namely Redfall, is the first game from the firm to be offered at 80 euros.

So today, following Sony, Take-Two and Microsoft, we learn that another developer is ready to exceed the symbolic bar of 70 euros : we named SEGA!

SEGA is more expensive than you!

In the near future, expect to have to spend a total of 80 euros to acquire the very next Sonic game. Indeed, it was following the publication of the company’s latest financial reports that SEGA took part in a question-and-answer session. Among the questions, that of the price of the game was obviously asked! And bad news: the publisher behind Sonic Frontiers is said to be willing to raise the price of its games.

In the global market, AAA games for consoles have been selling for $59.99 for many years, but titles selling for $69.99 have appeared in the last year. We would like to review the prices of securities that we believe correspond to price increases, while keeping an eye on market conditions. SEGA

It only remains to hope for players that SEGA does not take this path in the coming months, but there is obviously little chance that this wish will come true. In other words, a game sold for 80 euros at launch will soon be the norm.
