The publication of the documents from the trial between the FTC and Microsoft in the context of the acquisition of Activision Blizzard has visibly left room for a big mistake: the publication of confidential Microsoft documents without censorship.

We now know Xbox’s confidential roadmap until 2030. How? Thanks to the publication of the documents of the trial with the FTC in the United States concerning the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Obviously, there was an error somewhere, because uncensored documents were added as an attachment to a transcript of a testimony from Phil Spencer, boss of Microsoft Gaming.

Among these documents, Xbox’s very precise roadmap for the years to come: new game console, new accessories, new markets.

Xbox Series X Refresh : Brooklin

We first discover that Microsoft is indeed preparing a “ refresh » of its Xbox Series We note that several planned changes are related to the environment: 100% recyclable packaging, use of recycled plastic and power supply reduced by 15%.

The price would be maintained at $499 in the United States, but remember that the price of the console has increased everywhere else. There would still be technical improvements to consider: a move to Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and internal storage increased to 2 TB.

Obviously it is mainly the change in design that we can note. The Xbox Series On the front, the USB-A port would be replaced by a USB-C port capable of powering a device using Power Delivery.

This design change would mark the disappearance of the Blu-ray player. Microsoft would therefore definitively give up on games sold on the physical market.

There is a second code name hiding in the presentation: Uther. This time it’s an Xbox Series We therefore imagine that it would be a question of being able to personalize your console to your taste.

The launch would be scheduled for the end of October 2024.

Xbox Series S Refresh : Ellewood

The Xbox Series S would also be entitled to a new version, but without changing its exterior design. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 would be there, like on the Xbox Series X refresh. Here once more, the presentation mentions the use of recycled plastic and 100% recyclable pagacking.

The internal storage would increase to 1 TB, which is already the capacity of the new model launched with Starfield on September 1, 2023.

The announcement and launch of this new Xbox Series S would be scheduled for the end of August 2024, 60 days before the new Xbox Series Friday 2024.

Xbox Sebile: the new premium controller

This mid-generation change would be accompanied by the launch of a new, revised and corrected Xbox controller. It would integrate next-generation Xbox Wireless connectivity, Bluetooth 5.2 to maintain universal compatibility, and a direct Wi-Fi connection to the cloud, as offered by the Stadia controller.

Microsoft would take advantage of this to get up to date with the integration of a more precise vibration, undoubtedly like the DualSense, and an accelerometer, to detect the movements of the controller.

The buttons would be quieter than on the current controller and certain parts would be more easily repairable, notably the analog sticks.

The launch would be scheduled for June 2024, that is to say at the time of the Microsoft summer conference most likely.

No portable console

This document dated May 2022 also reveals what Microsoft does not want to do. We can indeed read there that Microsoft does not wish to launch wireless headphones for Xbox, unlike Sony PlayStation, nor a remote control or a controller dedicated to the smartphone.

Above all, the firm also excludes the possibility of launching a portable game console. Perhaps the success of the Steam Deck or the Nintendo Switch will change its mind, but for the moment, Xbox seems to favor partnerships with Asus ROG or Lenovo.
