Stranded travelers sleeping on the floor, accumulation of trash, overused bathrooms, hundreds of stacked suitcases; the high traffic at Montreal-Trudeau was literally “felt” in the terminal on Wednesday morning.

Met by TVA Nouvelles, an American literally launched “this airport stinks”, not only because of the ambient smell, but because of the total disorganization noted on the spot.
Again Wednesday morning, many of the people we met had been there since Tuesday, and many who were traveling with Air Canada in particular had no answers to their questions.
“My last flight with Air Canada should have been a year and a half ago to be honest, but we are in Canada and separated from Europe, what other choices do we have? They give a damn regarding their customers. And when you try to talk to someone, I understand that they are overwhelmed, they don’t want to help you”, explained a man unable to have a flight.
The speech is the same for a young man also stuck in Montreal-Trudeau and without service from his air carrier.
“Something must be done! Staff I’ve spoken to tell me it’s been this way for a very long time.”
A young woman cried foul: in addition to not having a flight, Air Canada asked her to pay to be able to take another.
“Our flight was canceled, no one can help us. Every time we ask for help we are told that there is no more theft. We have to pay for another flight when we haven’t even used our flight!”, denounced the woman.
The situation is such that the CEO of Aéroports de Montréal mentioned Tuesday evening the idea of abandoning certain destinations departing from Montreal.
“We hired and we especially tried to retain our people. Imagine for these people, trying to work in these conditions, it’s still not easy…” explained Philippe Rainville, CEO of Aéroports de Montréal.
The employees who work there must be certified by Transport Canada to work on the air side, making hiring more difficult.
