This #24May the first tropical wave will arrive in Venezuela

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH) reported that the first tropical wave of the season will arrive in Venezuela on Friday, May 25, so there will be cloudy skies and moderate rainfall over the weekend in much of the country.

In the bulletin on the synoptic situation of the Atlantic Ocean, Inameh detailed that the first tropical wave is expected to pass through the Central Tropical Atlantic and is estimated to reach Essequibo first.

According to the bulletin, the rains will be more intense in the followingnoon and at night. It also indicated that the rainfall on Sunday will be at night in the central region: Miranda, La Guaira, Capital District, Aragua and Carabobo. Meanwhile, on Monday, in the followingnoon, the tropical wave will move west.

The Meteorological Institute explained that the tropical wave is moving west at an average speed of 28 km/h and that so far it does not represent a risk for citizens, but that vigilance is required.

For his part, Valdermar Andrade, a hydrometeorological engineer from the UCV, said in an interview with Unión Radio that the tropical wave will cause more intense rains, strong winds and possible electrical discharges and stressed that its effect will be “low compared to the rest of the Caribbean.”

He explained that every year, in the month of May alone, there are between 5 and 6 tropical waves, but this year “it will be much smaller than estimated.”
