Thirst for Progress: Caacupé Stands Poised for Renewal with Cutting-Edge Water Facility

Asunción, IP Agency.- The construction of the Caacupé Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is in its final stretch, reaching 95 percent completion, while the comprehensive sewage system, pumping stations and drive lines are 85 percent complete. .

The project, which will benefit more than 15,000 inhabitants of the capital of the department of Cordillera, is in a crucial stage, according to the report released by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).

“We are finishing the storm drains, which will be made of concrete to protect the structure of the three main pools, work that will be completed in approximately one month,” explained José Ortiz Guerrero, construction director of the Cuatro Ciudades consortium.

Among the most notable components are the artificial wetlands, which consist of seven specialized pools, of which four are already practically completed. In addition, it includes the installation of external lighting and complementary civil works.

Sewer and pump stations

With respect to sewage, the last 300 home connections are currently being started, which will be completed within thirty days, as will the pumping stations, explained the director of the firm Cuatro Ciudades, awarded with “Tender No. 325783 – Infrastructure for Wastewater Collection and Treatment Systems and Improvement of Drinking Water Systems for Intermediate Cities – Group 1”, with a general amount of G. 107,616,816,429.

This project is possible thanks to the joint financing of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and local counterpart funds. With this infrastructure, Caacupé is positioned as a regional reference in sanitation, contributing to reducing health risks and promoting more sustainable and environmentally responsible urban development.

The WWTP will allow the adequate treatment of both domestic and industrial wastewater, marking an important milestone in improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of Caacupé and its area of ​​influence.
