A little over a month following FX premieres season 3 of ‘Atlanta‘, we got a little surprise: season 4 (which will arrive in the fall) of the Donald Glover series will be the last. This has been assured by John Landgraf, president of the chain, in the session that he has held at the TCA.
A decision that comes directly from Glover himself, who already conceived the next pair of seasons as a closure for the series. Not only that, but the creator assures that he actually wanted to have finished ‘Atlanta’ following season 2:
“Honestly, I wanted it to end in season 2. Death is natural… when the conditions are right for something, it happens, and when the conditions are not right, it doesn’t happen. Things start to get weird… you can’t do much. History was always going to be what it was and history, in reality, was us.»
Natural death
One plan to end the series that Landgraf learned during this hiatus four years that have passed since the broadcast of ‘Atlanta: Robbin’ Season’.
“He never told us that he wanted to end the series then but, following the second season, he was obviously very busy in another medium, in his music career, so there was an extended time but it was the first time I heard that he was not sure of continue the series, which makes sense because there was a delay in what I wanted to do.
Season 3 of ‘Atlanta’ will premiere on March 24 and it will take us to the gang in the middle of a tour of Europe in which the group navigates these parts as strangers. About ten episodes that will lay the seeds for the final season.
“It was great, all of that came in this season and it ends perfectly”, assures the creator. Alongside Glover, ‘Atlanta’ stars Brian Tyree Henry, LaKeith Stanfield y Zazie Beetz. Of course, we still do not know how we will see these new episodes in Spain, but the Disney + option is gaining strength at times (the two existing seasons have just been uploaded).
