According to initial investigations, a large quantity of fireworks was stolen from a discounter in Berlin-Neukölln.
As the police announced on Friday, four to five suspects entered the sales rooms of a supermarket on Glasower Strasse around 8:30 p.m. and tried to push a lattice truck with fireworks through the checkout area out of the store – but without paying.
When a 40-year-old employee noticed what was happening, he addressed the group and tried to arrest them. One of the suspects then sprayed tear gas in the man’s eyes.
The suspects then fled into the parking lot with the loot, police said. There they would have loaded a waiting car with the captured fireworks and drove off in an unknown direction.
