The local authorities of the province of Villa Clara announced at the end of this Tuesday that the production and sale of standardized bread will restart, only on alternate days. The news emerged following the arrival of a ship loaded with wheat flour through the port of Cienfuegos.

In this way, the bread from the winery will return to the homes of the central province for all consumers but not during each day. Initially, it is intended to begin this Wednesday the production and delivery of the coveted food to customers in Santa Clara, the provincial capital city.

One day later it will be the turn of the rest of the municipalities in Villa Clara. Thus, an alternative cycle will be executed on alternate days in the midst of a shortage of wheat flour. However, so far it has not been revealed how many days the raw materials to produce the product will offer coverage.

Lack of raw materials

Odel Dueñas, director of the Provincial Food Production Company, commented to local radio station CMHW regarding the immediate future of bread in wineries. “We will start this Wednesday in the Santa Clara stores and on Thursday in the units in the rest of the territories.”

“We still do not have enough and stable raw material to sell it on a daily basis,” the executive assured the press. The modest increase in supplies of wheat flour to Villa Clara will allow the production of bread in the basic basket to increase. “All consumers in the thirteen municipalities will receive the product every other day.”

It was also known that a ship loaded with wheat flour arrived a few days ago at the port of Santiago de Cuba. With this supply, the temporary production of bread will be guaranteed for at least the next few weeks in the provinces from Ciego de Ávila and Santiago.
