they will do a workshop to promote a fruit and vegetable snack

To prevent eating disorders, Public Health will hold a workshop on healthy snacks on July 22, at 10:00 a.m., at the Colonia Rodas Primary Health Care Center, located in Médano de Oro. This proposal arose because The authorities noticed that, during the pandemic, many children stopped having medical check-ups and that increased the number of overweight children.

The training is aimed at children in the first and sixth grades of primary school and aims to prevent the spread of diseases related to poor nutrition, such as obesity. “In recent years, children have been locked up and that is where there has been an increase in over-incarceration,” said Walter Clavel, director of the René Favaloro Training Center, to HUARPE DAILY.

The professional assured that most consume a large amount of carbohydrates and drinks with large proportions of sugars and fats in their snacks, such as juices and alfajores. Clavel recommended basing the diet on fruits and nuts that contain fibers, vitamins and minerals. “You have to look at the label regarding the content of the products because they are misleading,” he warned, referring to products that are camouflaged as healthy and nutritious, but in fact his nutritional information indicates the opposite.

He said that from Public Health they carry out workshops to train families of overweight children. The goal is to provide tools for people to incorporate healthy habits.

Within the framework of the campaigns to promote healthy eating, from July 11 to 17 they will make a big apple on the ground floor of the Civic Center. This initiative takes place following Sweetness Week and consists of giving an apple in exchange for a hug. The purpose is for society to add the consumption of fruits and vegetables to its daily diet.
