Officials from the Maturín Municipal Police (Polimaturín) detained 18 people of Pakistani nationality, who were found in a wooded area in the Altamira sector of Rincón de Monagas.
The police force received an alert call from the community, explaining that the group of foreigners were wandering suspiciously through the aforementioned sector, which set off the alarms of the inhabitants.
When police commissions arrived, the migrants tried to flee, their intention being unsuccessful. They were immediately transferred to the main headquarters of Polimaturín, where they provided first aid, logistics and protection until their subsequent transfer to their country.
