“They used to beat him at school,” says his mother.

“They used to beat him at school,” says his mother.

“At school, because of sports, he skipped classes and his friends who were in his class treated him very badly. There were two or three kids who sometimes beat him quite a bit. It wasn’t easy for Stefanos then, but he overcame it because he had tennis and his mind was there to move forward,” revealed Iulia Salnikova about Stefanos Tsitsipas’ childhood years and then emphasized: “As a mother, I have done the best for my children. I try to be close to them and we talk.”

Regarding the relationship Stefanos Tsitsipas has with his father, Iulia Salnikova says: “The summer was difficult for me. Stefanos has done very well, he is 26 years old but he doesn’t have such big feelings about tennis. There were things in his life that upset him but made him happy. He is a professional and although he loves his father very much, he understands that he needs to find another coach. Stefanos and Apostolos have not had such a good relationship since 2020 when he lost in the American Open. They had conflicts and that’s why Stefanos decided to change coaches. We are all together and we are a close family. They talk to each other and are together all day. Outbursts are his weakness, this behavior is not helping him at all.”

“Stefanos is happy to be with Paula Bandoza again and that’s the most important thing. If he’s happy I’ll be happy too. There was a difficult period when they were separated, I was by Paula’s side, we talked and that’s how they got back together,” said Yulia Salnikova characteristically.
