Three young Argentines were attacked with machetes on Friday in the town of Villa de Tututepec, on the Mexican Pacific coast. Benjamin Gamond, a 23-year-old from Cordoba, was one of the most affected, and He remains hospitalized in serious condition.

As reported by the family today, due to his skull fracture he was transferred in a medical helicopter to Mexico City. In addition, they detailed that their state “it is still serious”.

Benjamin needs special attention such as a neurosurgeon and a blood bank, benefits that the health center that received him at the beginning did not have. That is why he had launched a collection to raise the necessary funds to guarantee the transfer.

The violent episode occurred while they were having lunch at a beach restaurant and were approached by the stranger who, without saying a word, attacked them with a machete. Benjamin’s friend, Santiago Lastra (22) and his girlfriend Macarena González (29), also suffered serious injuries.

In an Instagram story, Marcos -his other brother- tried yesterday to calm down and assured that there is a “slight improvement” despite the fact that “the clinical state is still quite complex.” And he explained that he is in contact with himForeign Ministry to see the possibility of transferring him on a medical flight to Argentina.

Benjamin is the youngest of eight siblings and, for a few months, he was working in Mexico. He had gone for a walk to the town of Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, with his friend -also a native of Córdoba- and his girlfriend -born in Necochea- when they suffered the brutal attack.

One of Gamond’s brothers, Marcos, He is a doctor at the Heller Hospital in Neuquén and through social networks, he asked the population for collaboration to be able to cover the expenses of the hospitalization, as well as the trip to accompany him in Mexico.
