According to the explanations given by the FDJ to the players concerned, these “display inconsistencies” would be due to computer bugs.
An epidemic of false joys in which the Française des Jeux denies all responsibility. For several years, many users of the FDJ site have reported particularly cruel malfunctions, leading them to believe that they had won different sums, before these winnings simply disappeared from their respective histories.
Capitalwhich takes stock of this strange affair, thus affirms for example that in 2019, a fifty-year-old regular player on the FDJ site saw one of her numbers appear as a winner on an online “Cash” ticket, the interface telling her at that time that she had just won the tidy sum of 100,000 euros!
“They told me not to worry”
However, the player then never saw this money appear in her personal space and decided to contact the FDJ. “They told me not to worry, that if I had seen a winning number, it was that I had won the sum, that we had to wait and see what happened “, enumerates the fifties, quoted by Capital.
These reassuring words will however give way to an end of inadmissibility on the part of the organization responsible for the management of gambling in France. If the player was indeed recontacted in the following weeks, it was to tell her that her winnings were the result of a display error and that they were therefore not valid!
Several legal actions, in vain
According to Capital, many other users of the FDJ site have been victims of similar bugs. The magazine refers to testimonies published on a Facebook group devoted to gambling and mentions several complaints filed by players who believe they have been deceived by the FDJ, in 2016, 2017, 2020 and 2021.
In each of these cases, however, justice ended up giving reason to the organization, which rejects all responsibility by invoking “display inconsistencies” caused by “a virus, obsolescence of the material, (…) a breakdown”. “It’s not normal, protests the lawyer of a player, quoted by Capital. We had proof of the win, the screenshot. The FDJ cannot refer the fault to the player, who does not is not responsible for the site’s IT chain.”
