They steal a smartphone then return it when they see it’s not an iPhone

It’s a fact: Apple has very significant market shares in the United States, far ahead of its rivals. A popularity that leads to certain ridiculous situations, like the one experienced by this resident of Washington DC

If smartphones are among the devices most stolen from their owners on a daily basis, it is mainly the iPhone which comes first among the most coveted brands. And for good reason, numerous studies show that it is the Apple phone that best retains its value over time. Even older models retain a certain value on the market, due to the software support provided to Apple which sometimes goes beyond five years.

And the pickpockets have understood this very well, to the point that it sometimes borders on the ridiculous. In the United States, iPhones are much more popular than Androids, which probably must have delighted this resident of Washington DC. As he was preparing to meet his wife one morning at the foot of a residential building, two hooded men and armed came towards him to pick his pockets, says ABC7.

When he took out his phone, one of the two men asked if “it’s an Android”, to which the victim responded in the affirmative. “We don’t want it, we thought it was an iPhone” said one of the thieves, before returning the device to its owner. A funny story which demonstrates, once once more, the popularity of Apple in Uncle Sam’s Land.
