They say goodbye to Gisela Gaytán, candidate murdered in Celaya

CELAYA.- Family, friends and supporters said their last goodbye to Gisela Gaytancandidate for Morena to the mayor’s office Celaya murdered during the campaign kick-off event last Monday.

At noon this Wednesday, a security operation was implemented in the vicinity of the funeral home where the body was being watched.

10 federal agents and five patrol cars were present at the wake to protect the funeral home. To enter the venue, the identification of the attendees was checked.

Around 1:00 pm the hearse left the place being escorted by vehicles from the National Guard and the Mexican Army.

At the same time a helicopter Department of Public Security flew over the area.

The present body mass was led by the priest Cesar Torreswho lamented the insecurity in the entity, recriminating the State for its inaction to address the problem of violence in the region.

The priest also called on people to maintain faith and hope and indicated that “we are more good than cursed.”

On April 1, Gisela Gaytán, Morena’s candidate for mayor of Celaya, Guanajuato, was shot to death during a campaign event in the Jardines de Celaya neighborhood.

Since December 2023 to the murder of Gisela Gaytán, there are 24 politicians murdered in the current electoral process, as candidates or aspiring to a candidacy.
