Officials from an animal rescue center saved the life of “Coco”, a labrador retriever whose case shocked the United Kingdom following meeting that he was addicted to alcohol because of his former owner. For this reason, he must now receive treatment for his alcoholism.
The two-year-old canine arrived at the Woodside Animal Welfare Trust in Devon County just over a month ago. This, following Coco’s master died.

The puppy arrived at the site along with another bigeye tuna from the same owner, and following a few days they became ill. From the rescue center they narrated: “’Coco’s’ friend had seizures repeatedly and shortly following ‘Coco’ also began to have seizures. Fortunately, a vet was on site at the time and was able to administer emergency care. Unfortunately though, ‘Coco’s’ friend passed away despite our best efforts.”.
They also described that Coco “continued seriously ill and required 24-hour care. It became clear that he was suffering from symptoms associated with alcohol withdrawal. He spent four weeks sedated to help with his withdrawal symptoms and reduce the risk of further attacks.”
THEY GAVE THEM TO DRINK BEFORE SLEEPING
Several shelter workers reported that both Coco and her deceased friend created a dependency on alcohol. This is because the deceased owner gave them a drink before going to sleep, he reported. T13.
“We are very grateful that he is now out of danger. ‘Coco’ no longer requires medication and now begins to behave like a normal dog. He is not yet ready for adoption and although physically he seems to have recovered. Sometimes he is still very anxious mentally, ”they pointed out.
According to experts, Alcohol is very dangerous for dogs, so they recommend preventing them from accessing this type of drink.especially sweet liquors, since they can cause an ethyl coma.
