Argentina registered 818 new cases of Covid-19 this Sunday, bringing the total number of positives to 9,026,075, while deaths rose to 127,909, following five deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 8.8 million people who were infected and discharged, while 59,492 are considered active cases.

The number of patients with a confirmed diagnosis of coronavirus who remain admitted to intensive care units is 556well below the peak of 7,969 reported on June 14, 2021.

The percentage of bed occupancy in intensive care units for all types of pathologies is 37.6% at the national level and 39.1% if only Buenos Aires and its outskirts are considered.

Since the end of December, the country has been going through a “third wave” of the pandemic caused by the community spread of the omicron variant, although the number of positives has gradually decreased in recent weeks.

Argentina registered a record of 139,853 daily cases on January 14.
