The National Border Service of Panama (Senafront Panama) confirmed the discovery of the body of a 10-year-old girl, whose nationality is Venezuelan, who died following an attempt to cross a river in the Darién jungle.

A Senafront brigade carried out exploration tasks along the mountainous area, where they found the body shortly following.

“Through patrolling they managed to find the location in the mountainous area of ​​Tacartí of the body of a minor of 10 years of Venezuelan nationality who unfortunately died by immersion, and the rescue of her mother and aunt. In addition to the recovery and extraction of the body to carry out the legal and forensic procedures of the case, “they explained.

The Commissioner of the OAS General Secretariat for the crisis of Venezuelan migrants and refugees, David Smolansky, referred to the event and specified that “at least 14 Venezuelan migrants have died in that jungle and 29 on different migratory routes in the region in recent years. two months”.
