They report more than 1,600 surgeries by agreement at the Military hospital

Asunción, IP Agency.- One year after the alliance between the Ministries of Public Health and National Defense, more than 1,600 scheduled surgeries have been performed at the Military Hospital, improving medical care and guaranteeing that all citizens have access to timely and quality care.

According to the report from the health ministry, the signing of the agreement with the Ministry of Defense made it possible to reduce the waiting list for scheduled surgeries in different public establishments.

Through this joint work between ministries, a total of 1,657 surgeries have been performed to date at the Military Hospital, which, in addition to reducing the list of patients waiting for procedures, has helped improve quality of life and alleviate symptoms. in 1,534 people between 19 and 59 years old, positively impacting their daily lives, their well-being and that of their families.

Some of the patients received the answer after years of waiting, like one of them, who had been diagnosed with a hernia since birth, more than 20 years ago. This joint effort highlights the importance of coordinated work between State institutions to optimize resources and offer more efficient attention to citizens.

Many of the surgeries carried out are for inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia, supraumbilical hernia, gallstones (stone in the gallbladder), varicose vein surgery, hysteroscopies, eventrations, lipomas, biopsy samples, hernias by video laparoscopy, among others.

For procedures in this context, the Ministry of Health provides the human resources, supplies, medications, necessary equipment, as well as the required logistics. For its part, the Ministry of Defense provides the infrastructure of the Military Hospital, which includes inpatient rooms and operating rooms.

This inter-institutional work is carried out with the coordination of the General Directorate of Development of Health Services and Networks of the health portfolio, and will continue to increasingly reduce the wait for patients on the list for scheduled surgeries.
