Two people were rescued alive and two others remain trapped following the collapse of a partition in the area of the chimney of the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant, in Matanzas, reports TV Yumurí.
The workers, belonging to the Company Specialized in Repair and Maintenance of Chimneys and works at heights of the Ministry of Construction, worked in the lower part of the evacuation conduit, in the area known as an ashtray, where they extracted soot and carried out other cleaning tasks. when the partition collapsed, a wall seven meters high.

The journalist José Miguel Solís reports that, with great care, but without wasting time, firefighters and rescuers remove bricks from inside the chimney of the Matanzas industry, where two workers are still trapped.
According to the first of those rescued, Leonel Pérez Montoya —transferred to the Faustino Pérez hospital for the moment with a bill for his left leg— heard a colleague close to him and from what he suspects is alive.
After 4 in the followingnoon they rescued a second person alive following the accident.
First injured receives care
The first person injured in the accident at the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant already receives medical attention at the Faustino Pérez Provincial Hospital in the city of Matanzas, reported journalist Carlos Manuel Bernal
According to the director of the medical institution, Dr. Taymí Martínez Naranjo, the patient arrived conscious with mild head trauma and possible fracture. The pertinent studies are carried out.

Second injured up to the hospital

Two of them, Ángel Dionis Pérez Montoya and Maikel López Navarro, were among those trapped as a result of the accident in the chimney of the CTE Antonio Guiteras.
«The first of them is a 30-year-old male patient with a dislocation in the right lower limb and a simple head trauma. He will be under observation for 24 hours,” said Taymí Martínez Naranjo, director of the hospital.
Regarding Maikel, he commented that he suffers a pelvic fracture, but that he is not in danger either. The official assured that the conditions and resources exist for her medical attention.
The third patient was not among those trapped; but he was helping in the rescue work and the soot caused an injury to his eyes.
