Dozens of social media users reported a second crash on the website of the Ministry of the Interior, Justice and Peace (MIJP), which has hindered access to processing the criminal record certificate.
To verify this information, the team The Diary On Tuesday, November 5, he tried to enter the section of the website to process the criminal record certificatebut access was not allowed due to system failures.
“As if what happens to Venezuelans abroad were not enough, now the page to request criminal records from Venezuela does not work and for this type of contingency no official appears to report what is happening,” the user of X (formerly Twitter) Marco Méndez.
Unstable website
Since the second half of 2024, Venezuelans interested in processing the criminal record certificate reported that the agency’s website has operated irregularly.
However, on October 15, the portal reactivated its operation and allowed users access for several hours and then it was inactive again with the message “not found”, “try to access later”, or it remains in a state constant load.
So far, the Ministry of the Interior and Justice has not given explanations in this regard and they have not offered alternatives so that Venezuelans can process this document.
Recurrent failures on the MIJP platform
Seven days after the resumption, another group of applicants reported difficulties completing the process on line, because the system did not allow them to continue.
Likewise, it was known that several of the alerts indicated the “403 Forbidden” error, this means that access is blocked and the server does not allow viewing the page.
“The general public is informed that the criminal records website is under maintenance until further notice,” reads the letter signed by the MIJP coordination.

### Interview with Marco Méndez: On the Continued Irregularities at the MIJP Website
**Host:** Thank you for joining us today, Marco. As we’ve heard, the website for the Ministry of the Interior, Justice and Peace has faced significant issues recently, particularly regarding the processing of criminal record certificates. Can you tell us more about your experience?
**Marco Méndez:** Thank you for having me. Yes, it’s been quite frustrating. Since the second half of 2024, many of us trying to access the MIJP website have encountered irregularities. Just recently, I attempted to access the site to process my criminal record and was faced with system failures. It seems like every time we think it’s working, it goes down again.
**Host:** That sounds incredibly inconvenient. How have these website issues impacted individuals trying to obtain their criminal records?
**Marco Méndez:** It’s had a significant impact. Many people need these certificates for various reasons—employment, travel, or legal matters. Without access to the MIJP website, they are left in limbo. I saw reports of users encountering error messages like “403 Forbidden” or just continuous loading screens. It’s disappointing that there’s been no communication from the MIJP regarding these issues.
**Host:** Communication seems to be a common issue. Have you or others received any alternative solutions from the ministry?
**Marco Méndez:** Unfortunately, no. People are left without guidance or support. The last update we received indicated that the site was under maintenance, but there hasn’t been any clear direction on when it might be accessible again. This lack of transparency is really frustrating for everyone affected.
**Host:** Do you think there is a larger issue at play regarding how the government handles these technological infrastructures?
**Marco Méndez:** Absolutely. The recurring failures of the MIJP website highlight a broader problem with infrastructure and public services in the country. When basic services can’t function properly, it raises concerns about how the government prioritizes and manages resources. It feels like we are constantly facing roadblocks just to access basic documentation we need.
**Host:** It’s clear that there are significant challenges. What would you like to see from the MIJP or the government moving forward?
**Marco Méndez:** I would love to see more accountability and communication from them. If there are issues with their digital infrastructure, they should be upfront about it instead of leaving citizens in the dark. Also, developing a more reliable platform for essential services is crucial. Venezuelans deserve better than this ongoing uncertainty.
**Host:** Thank you for your insights, Marco. It seems clear that the dialogue around these issues needs to continue, and we hope for a resolution soon.
**Marco Méndez:** Thank you for having me. I appreciate the opportunity to speak out about this situation.
