Daniel Divinskythe former editor of the Argentine label De la Flor, and therefore editor of the comic strip Mafalda, spoke regarding the origins of Mafaldacreation of the Argentine Joaquín Salvador Lavado Tejón, better known as Cinchona.
The talk was moderated by the Mexican writer Benito Taibo, who believes that Quino, with Mafalda, invented the Argentine middle class. Taibo also emphasized the futuristic vision of the comic, since Mafalda’s great triumph was addressing issues that continue to be relevant years ago.

Daniel Divinsky assured that it is not a comic for children but with children and with highly philosophical topics and told an episode where the Portuguese writer José Saramago met Quino in Frankfurt.
“I introduced them. They looked at each other in silence, because neither of them were people of many words, until Saramago said with a Portuguese accent ‘Mafalda was my philosophy teacher’and Quino was blushing, ‘it should be mandatory in universities’, and Quino was blushing more and more.”
