The Guyanese community also refuses to accept this cancellation method implemented by the National Government.

This Wednesday the national government paid the first 25% of bonuses to public administration workers. This as part of the announcement made by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, in previous months regarding the advancement of Christmas from October 1.
In Ciudad Guayana, a large influx of buyers was observed both in the center of San Félix and in sectors of Alta Vista -in Puerto Ordaz-, trying to buy clothes, food and appliances for the holiday season, before everything goes ” more expensive”.
Workers from the different sectors that make life in Guayana rejected the installment payment of the bonus in four parts.
The general secretary of the Movement 23 of Bauxilum, Rolando Muñoz, said that the installment payment has been implemented since 2018, when union leaders “affected by the government” handed over the collective contracts with memorandum 2792.
“They implemented this new method of canceling it in four parts, apart from the fact that they worsened the payment of the profit bonus, in the sense that we do not know what concepts they imposed, the workers do not know the concepts that make up the calculation of profits, since they eliminated the payment lists”, he said.
The trade unionist assured that unions such as nurses, teachers, retirees and pensioners were paid between 300 and 800 bolívares; while the workers were paid between 800 and 1,500 bolívares.
Muñoz pointed out that the 25% that was canceled was spent on making a market, “for almost a week, because it does not cover the food basket either, the voucher was buying the basics, meat; chicken fish; grain; pasta; (…), but where is the clothing of my family, the recreation of my children?
“Before, you planned to buy appliances to equip the house, you bought clothes, shoes, you changed your cell phone for the one that was in fashion; now everything they give to the workers is lazy,” said the CVG Bauxilum worker.
For its part, the retirees and pensioners sector describes the installment payment as an illegal act and a “violation of collective agreements.”
Hugo Medina, president of the Federation of Retirees and Pensioners Associations of the state of Bolívar (Fadejupebol), considered that there are workers who worked for more than 40 years of service and today their social benefits are not met.
The union pointed out that the installment payment will result in inflation, “because the national currency is devalued more every day that passes.”

scoop conducted a consultation through social networks to find out the opinion of the Guyanese community, most of whom reject the payment method that is being implemented with the Christmas bonus.
Through his Facebook account, Rafael Muñoz wrote “that is not even enough for a month and they have the ‘cheekery’ of announcing three months of Christmas by decree. What to do? If we continue in this situation, we will continue to have a hard time”.
Vicente Guédez commented through the same social network “a tremendous feat we are multimillionaires with that payment yesterday, and today not even enough for food,” he said.
The next 25% of the bonus is expected to be paid on November 2, to complete the 50% payment.
