They receive proof of majority winners of extraordinary elections in Chiapas Tuxtla Gutiérrez.- The Institute of Elections and Citizen Participation (IEPC) delivered on Wednesday proof of majority to the winners of the extraordinary elections of municipalities of Venustiano Carranza, El Parral and Siltepec.

Regarding the municipality of Venustiano Carranza, where 32.89 percent of the voting booths were not installed, the electoral body explained that as the organizing authority it does not have the power to annul elections.

That power, he specified, falls to the courts because the IEPC “validates with what it has and delivers the proof of majority; the act can be challenged and the jurisdictional authority decides,” said an electoral source.

For the triumph in Siltepec he received the certificate Raynau Rene Morales Gonzalezwho contended for the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).

Elvira del Carmen Castañeda received the record of the majority for her victory in El Parral and for Venustiano Carranza, José Luis Avendaño Borraz, both from the coalition of the Green Ecologist parties of Mexico (PVEM) and Morena.

The winner in the municipality of Emiliano Zapata, Marien Alejandra Román Granados, also a PVEM-Morena coalition, had not received her certificate until this followingnoon because the calculation day continued, whose deadline ends this Wednesday, IEPC sources indicated.

The new mayors and members of the council elected on Sunday, April 3, will take office on June 1.

Two days before the voting, electoral authorities suspended the extraordinary elections in the municipalities of Frontera Comalapa and Honduras de la Sierra, due to insecurity, violence and social discontent.
