They point to General Sanabria, director of the Police, of DD violations. H H. and ask to revoke it | Caribbean

Due to alleged abuses, in Cartagena the critical voices once morest the new director of the
Colombian Police,
the
general Henry Sanabria.
Some public observers asked President Gustavo Petro to revoke the appointment for alleged human rights violations.

“It must be a person of integrity, it must be a person who, within the trajectory of his resume, does not present annotations or investigations of a criminal or disciplinary nature”, said Erick Urueta Benavides, president of the judicial oversight of Cartagena.

The questions go back to the days of national strike, when General Sanabria served as commander of the Cartagena Police.

“In Cartagena, the Police attacked, caused injuries to several protesters and everything was by order of the Metropolitan Police headquarters, we are talking regarding the years 2019 and 2020,” said Urueta.

The alleged abuse and mistreatment of the uniformed officers led to criminal and disciplinary proceedings once morest the police high command.

“President Petro’s decision is wrong, General Sanabria did not represent and does not represent human security. The general must be, as we requested in Cartagena, replaced from the position of director general, since human security is absolute respect for human rights, of human dignity and the use of force as the last reason”, emphasized Alcides Arrieta, citizen security inspector.

Other social leaders are in disagreement with the possible removal of the new director of the Police, because they say that he has the right to due process.

“To reach Commander Sanabria, 21 generals were beheaded, there must be some solid argument from the President of the Republic. It is possible that he might have made some kind of mistake, but if you go to the control bodies you find that, in the particular case of Cartagena, all the actions were archived,” said Nausícrate Pérez Daut, president of the National Bar Association.

What oversight and human rights organizations do agree on is that the Prosecutor’s Office, Attorney General’s Office and the Police’s disciplinary control office must speed up and make public the development of the complaints once morest General Sanabria.
