Asunción, IP Agency.- The Minister of Justice, Rodrigo Nicora, led an inter-institutional meeting to share the Ministry’s project to improve perimeter security and beautify the urban environment of the Tacumbú National Penitentiary.
Directors of the Municipality of Asunción, the National Electricity Administration (ANDE), the Sanitary Services Company of Paraguay (Essap) and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) participated.
“There is a major intervention that we want to do in terms of perimeter security and in the urban environment of the Tacumbú National Penitentiary, which is related to improving lighting, infrastructure, resurfacing of streets, preventive and security controls, the installation of hydrants for fire prevention, traffic control and establishment of safe areas, as well as the beautification of public spaces in front of the entrance of the establishment,” he noted.
He highlighted that the intention is to return these public spaces to the citizens, considering that for a long time they were occupied by people who were dedicated to trafficking illegal products.
Minister Nicora highlighted that the intervention of the different institutions will be essential to achieve the proposed objective.
“It is a general intervention that we want to do in the surroundings of the Tacumbú Penitentiary, to show that Operation Veneratio was not only an internal issue, but an intervention for the benefit of the entire community and to improve the quality of life of the prison. citizenship,” highlighted the minister.
The representatives of the institutions present highlighted the importance and significance of the project and expressed their total willingness to contribute to achieving the objective, reported the Ministry of Justice.
