The director of Parks for the state of Bolívar, Ángel Rivas, reported that this Tuesday a heartfelt tribute was held to the teachers who died in the La Llovizna Park jump in Puerto Ordaz 58 years ago.
The single authority of Education, Brizeida Quiñones and Marbelis Rodríguez, representative of the Environment in the region, attended the event.
They also had the boy scouts and announcer Miguel Antonio Salazar and the engineer Joaquín Sánchez Silva, both helped in the rescue in the tragedy. The pathologist doctor Antonio Silva de Andrade together with the chronicler and master of photography, Evelio Lucero, as exceptional witnesses described the events that occurred on August 23, 1964.
The most significant act took place on the bridge in front of the jump, the same place of the accident, when scattering rose petals into the water to remember each one of the deceased teachers, following a mass presided over by Father Jorge Carreño.
