Being fashionable has its cost. Not only economic, but also environmental. The textile industry is the second most polluting in the world, according to the United Nations (UN).
The life cycle of a garment involves a series of stages, from the creation of the textile fibers, such as the cultivation of cotton, to the manufacturing, distribution and eventual sale of the product. Each of these phases has an impact on the environment, from the consumption of natural resources to the generation of waste and polluting emissions.
Circular fashion is a key solution to address these challenges. “This is an approach that promotes the reuse, repair, recycling and exchange of garments, as opposed to the linear model of production and consumption predominant today,” said May Hobert, organizer of the “Auge” fair, in Fernandez Oro.
“Adopting circular fashion means prolonging the useful life of clothing, giving it a second chance through exchange, donation or recycling, and promoting sustainable designs and materials from their origin,” added May in dialogue with BLACK RIVER RADIO.
Fair, this Sunday:
The “Auge” fair has already held several meetings dedicated to the reuse and circularity of second-hand clothing, accessories and footwear.
The Christmas edition is scheduled for this Sunday at the Fernández Oro Cultural Center, on Calle Don Bosco 440, de 17 a 21 hs.
In this edition, the fair says goodbye to the year with satisfaction for the positive impact it has achieved in the community. It offers an opportunity to explore a wide range of sustainable fashion options.
