Deputy Governor Carlos Arce and the president of the Health Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Martín Cesino, met yesterday with the president of the College of Physicians of Misiones, Luis Daniel Flores, in a clear attempt to open the dialogue before the application of the Traditional and Alternative Medicine Law.
This law, passed just over a month ago, mobilized professional medical institutions because they were not consulted in the instances prior to converting this regulation into law, which incorporated alternative medicines such as reiki, acupuncture, reflexology, traditional Chinese medicine, ayurveda, medicine of the original peoples, anthroposophic medicine into the provincial health system and the provincial social work IPS , phytomedicine and reflexology.
“We consider that the dialogue was opened and, as Arce and Cesino guaranteed us, it will be with a permanent back and forth. An upcoming meeting was also agreed within the scope of the Ministry of Public Health, with the participation of Minister Oscar Alarcón”, confirmed the president of the Medical Association, Luis Daniel Flores, to FIRST EDITION.
This meeting with the Public Health authorities, the body in charge of regulating the traditional and alternative medicine law, still has no set date “we ask that it take place next week, following the long weekend, so that At least three references from the College’s board of directors and the president of the Bioethics Committee, Rosa Ramírez, can be present, “said Flores.
“Let’s listen”
The doctor assured that the meeting will be with an open agenda, “we are going to listen, more than to propose. The purpose is to know the scope of the law and, of course, exchanging opinions because surely a member of the board of directors will be able to raise objections”.
Meanwhile, according to the president of the Medical Association, this Tuesday the Bioethics Committee invited a referent of the Argentine Society of Bioethics, the doctor José María Tau, to participate in the analysis on the incorporation of traditional and alternative medicine to the benefits offered in the field of public health.
“It was a very interesting day of analysis, Tau spoke at length regarding complementary medicine and gave rise to a rich exchange of opinions. The Bioethics Committee approached the issue from different angles, but did not establish a position in favor or once morest the Provincial Law of Traditional and Alternative Medicine”, Flores pointed out.
It is worth remembering that the Medical Association asked the scientific societies for their opinion on this law, “the objective of this request is for these organizations to know regarding this new regulation because we know that many doctors still do not know regarding it and, on the other hand, so that professionals know that the College is also paying attention to the law and its regulations”.
Flores also highlighted the commitment made by the Lieutenant Governor and Deputy Cesino to be consulted on bills that impact the health of missionaries.
