They open a new bus route with two daily departures 2024-02-14 16:31:22

Transportation authorities in Havana reported this week the opening of a new bus route in the Cuban capital with two daily departures. They detailed that since last February 8, passengers will be able to travel between Guanajay and Havana (Lido) on a new route with the aforementioned frequency.

According to the local media, Tribuna de La Habana, the schedules are as follows. In the morning. Departure from Guanajay at 7:00 am (next to ETECSA). Departure from Lido at 9:00 am. In the followingnoon. Departure from Guanajay at 3:00 pm (next to ETECSA) Departure from Lido at 5:00 pm.

From the ruling party they specified that the cost of the ticket is 50 Cuban pesos, a fairly high price, given the current inflation. But at least it is a relief for the well-known Transportation crisis in Havana and throughout Cuba in general.

Is it a direct trip without stops or will there be intermediate stops to pick up and unload passengers?”, “Is it first come, first served or do you have to make a reservation in advance?”, or “What good news, I hope new itineraries are opened that also leave from the Lido to other places. What is also needed is that from the beginning there is discipline on the part of the public and the drivers who immediately see that no one is controlling and start inventing,” were some of the reactions of residents.

Transportation Crisis in Havana

Only one Regla boat is operational in Havana these days, while the other five are undergoing maintenance due to technical failures. The Minister of Transportation of the Island, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, reported that the repaired boats are expected to return to regular service in the coming months.

The only boat that currently works makes 30 trips a day and connects three points in the bay: the Emboque de Regla, the Muelle de Luz and Casablanca.

The minister confirmed that three new engines have already been contracted and will arrive in the country at the end of next March.
