Now the Ministry of the Interior is offering a reward of 50,000 soles or 13,000 dollars to anyone who provides information on his whereabouts and maintains the international arrest warrant against him. But people close to the case warn that the late reaction of the Police could take its toll.

For Liz Meléndez, director of the Flora Tristán Center for Peruvian Women, the authorities’ delay “has no explanation other than neglect and lack of interest (…) in women.”

“In addition, (evidence) the setbacks that we have been observing in the Executive, in the Legislative and in the authorities in the face of violence against women,” he mentioned in an interview with The Republic.

“Unfortunately, if the case does not start to make a name for itself in the media, due attention is not paid to it because, in cases of feminicide, the National Police and the authorities in general have the obligation to act within the framework of what is which is called enhanced due diligence,” explained Meléndez.

In the case of Sergio Tarache, the arrest warrant came six days after committing the crime; however, “the persecution of this criminal should have been carried out immediately for him to be arrested in the context of flagrante delicto,” he claimed.

Likewise, Meléndez assured that placing him among the most wanted, although it is a mechanism that is valid and necessary, does not guarantee that he will be captured and stressed that the subject could have been arrested immediately, since the entire incident was committed in the middle of a public thoroughfare. .

For her part, Cinthia Manchare, Katherine’s mother, insisted on asking the authorities for justice, since, to date, it has not been possible to capture Tarache.

“My request is that they do justice for my daughter. I want to look everywhere for that man. Any information they have can go to any police station and report the guy. Do not hesitate to do it, he has to pay for what he did to my daughter, “he said.

In addition, he asked that the work corresponding to the search for the man and the investigations into the details of the crime that occurred against his daughter not cease, because he does not want his case to end up filed.
