Police already have three suspects behind bars and are going following the mastermind.
Hairdresser Elizamar da Silva, 39, and her three young children disappeared on January 12 in Brasilia.
A day later his charred car was found and the four bodies inside. It was just the beginning of a massacre in which six other members of the same family would be killed.
The husband, Thiago Belchior, also disappeared along with his father, mother and sister: Marcos Antonio Lopes de Oliveira, Renata Juliene Belchior and Gabriela Belchior, respectively.
Finally, the track of Marco Antonio’s ex-wife and the daughters they had in common, Claudia Regina Marques de Oliveira and Ana Beatriz Marques de Oliveira, were lost.
The Federal Police have already identified all the victims. Two were found inside another burned-out vehicle, three inside a cistern and one buried near a house where the killers reportedly kept some of the victims.
So far, there are three suspects in custody, one of them with burns on his hands. The first investigations indicate that the homicides were carried out for economic reasons.
According to the press, the suspects lived near Marcos Antonio Lopes de Oliveira, the hairdresser’s father-in-law, and would be aware that the family had received large amounts of money from the sale of two properties and a loan from the bank for the hairdresser.
Police, however, continue to investigate the crime.
