Asunción, IP Agency.- The National Malaria Eradication Service (Senepa) led an environmental minga in Santa Rosa with the objective of protecting the population and eliminating breeding sites for the transmitting mosquito. This day will be replicated this Friday, in San Juan Bautista.
The increase in dengue cases in Misiones has generated a response from the Ministry of Health, through Senepa. In recent weeks, the number of notifications of possible dengue cases in Santa Rosa and San Juan has reached figures that exceed 2,500 reported cases.
Faced with this situation, 60 brigades made up of seneperos, soldiers and students have been mobilized, who have carried out exhaustive work in the Pablo VI, San José, San Isidro and Virgen del Pilar neighborhoods of the aforementioned city.
The operation launched this Thursday covered about 180 blocks, according to the Senepa report, through the health portfolio.
Once the breeding sites were identified, the seneperos proceeded to eliminate them. Using precise and careful techniques, they have emptied containers, cleaned drains and applied larvicides to interrupt the mosquito’s life cycle.
In addition, they provided advice to residents on prevention practices, highlighting the importance of keeping the spaces around their homes clean and free of stagnant water.
In this context, the Ministry of Health and local authorities ratified the commitment to protect the health and well-being of all citizens. Therefore, they announced that these actions will not be limited to Santa Rosa, but will be extended to another affected area such as San Juan Bautista. This action is part of a continuous effort to combat dengue and guarantee the safety of the community.
The tasks will continue this Friday in the city of San Juan Bautista, specifically in the Centro, Santa María de Lourdes, Obrero and General Díaz neighborhoods.
