A 57-year-old man was killed today with a bullet to the chest in front of his wife when they were aboard a van, in the city of Córdoba, and it is being investigated whether it was an attempted robbery, police sources reported.
The event occurred this morning, following 5, in the El Pueblito neighborhood, in the southwest of the Cordovan capital, where the victim, identified as José Aguirre, a Peruvian national, was driving a gray Peugeot Partner utility truck in which he was traveling with his couple, 48 years old.
Police sources informed Télam that both went to that neighborhood to look for relatives to take them to the airport and were intercepted by a group of five criminals.
The man wanted to escape and was shot in the chest, following which he continued driving wounded until he vanished a few blocks away, at 700 Sayhueque Street.
Police officers were alerted to what had happened and found Aguirre badly injured, for which they urgently transferred him in a patrol car to the Eva Perón hospital.
The doctors tried to revive the man but he finally died as a result of a gunshot wound to the middle area of the thorax.
Police personnel alerted to the crime began to survey the area in search of witnesses in order to identify the attackers.
The fact is investigated by the prosecutor’s office in the city of Córdoba and the investigations suspect that it was an attempted robbery.
