The ‘influencer’ and TikTok star Brandon Montrell lost his life this Friday in the middle of a shooting in a supermarket in New Orleans (USA), where he was visiting for the Christmas holidays.

The tragedy occurred when the comedian, known as ‘Boogie B’, was in his vehicle parked in the parking lot of a Rouses Market store in the Warehouse District. While he was waiting for his grandmother to pick up his Christmas shopping from the supermarket, he was hit by a stray bullet from a crossfire between two men, Fox8 reports.

“My son was not just the victim of a stray bullet. He is the victim of decades of neglect that have left the youth of New Orleans with no hope for the future and no real fear of the consequences,” his mother, Sherilyn Price, said in a statement.

According to a cousin of the comedian, Montrell had moved to Los Angeles to further his entertainment career, but decided to visit his hometown in Louisiana to spend the holidays with his mother and grandmother.

For their part, the Police have identified two suspects in the murder, who are considered dangerous. Photographs of them and their vehicle were posted.

‘Boogie B’ was popular on TikTok, with more than 226,000 followers, and on other social media. He gained fame with his ‘Hood History’ video series in which he shared New Orleans historical places, events and people with a humorous twist.

Known for its nightlife, New Orleans has the highest murder rate in the US, recording regarding 41 homicides per 100,000 residents in the first half of this year, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis.
