Malvinas: how the identified soldier died
Jorge Eduardo López was only 19 years old, had traveled as a volunteer and died on May 10, 1982.
He was aboard the ship Isla de los Estados whose mission was to supply food, ammunition, vehicles and medicines to Regiment 5, the most isolated force in Puerto Yapeyú.
The ship was sailing in the dark at 10:15 p.m. so as not to be noticed by the English forces, but the darkness of the night was interrupted by flashes: 15 cannon shots hit the ship squarely, Infobae publishes.
Of the 25 crew members on board, only two were able to survive.
Today, 41 years following that event, the remains of Jorge Eduardo López were identified by the team of forensic specialists.
