Strong winds and droughts that affect the entire Valdés Peninsula area increased the work of firefighters seeking to extinguish and reduce the damage caused by a fire that originated 15 kilometers from Puerto Madryn.

The government of the province of Chubut ordered the evacuation of 700 vehicles from Puerto Pirámides. What’s more, provincial routes 1, 2 and national route 3 had to be disabled due to fire and smoke that reduced visibility.

During noon this Sunday the flames were reactivated violently due to the strong winds in the area, which is why the work of firefighters, Civil Defense, Provincial Roads, the Provincial Road Safety Agency and the Public Services area had to be intensified.

The vehicles that had to be evacuated correspond to tourists who were temporarily isolated in Puerto Pirámides and they were assisted by caravans along Provincial Route 42 to Puerto Madryn.

From the government of Chubut they called on the community to be cautious and not approach the areas where fire is fought. They also reiterated the request to be extremely careful and avoid any type of behavior that might lead to fires.
