Until now, the experts might not determine the mechanics of death, but everything would indicate that the death occurred violently shortly following the disappearance of the young woman, who was last seen alive on December 3, 2021.
Although at first the case for “investigation of whereregardings” began in an Esteban Echeverría Prosecutor’s Office, it later went to the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 18 for Complex Crimes and Organized Crime of Lomas de Zamora, the same one that investigated then the discovery of the remains.

In April 2022, an acquaintance of Barrios identified as Adrian Becerra was arrested for the femicide of the young woman, who was still missing by then, but the investigations already indicated the possibility of a crime.

“He sent messages to the victim’s family posing as her,” a spokesperson for the investigation explained to the Télam agency, adding that the defendant sold that device to a third party, although he later managed to be located and kidnapped.
The murdered young woman had four children and her mother, María Roldán, made her disappearance public in different marches, such as those of the NiUnaMenos movement.
