They found the body of the U. de A. student who was dragged down a ravine in Barbosa

In the jurisdiction of Yolombó, in the Northeast of Antioquia, they found the body of Carolina Gómez, the young university student who was swept away by the current of a ravine in Barbosa on September 23. The authorities found her body following five days of searching.

The 28-year-old biology student was swept away by the current when she was conducting research on the sound of frogs, forcing her to travel to the banks of rivers and streams.

To carry out this task, he went to the Barbosa ravine, near the La Playita sector, together with some colleagues from the University of Antioquia, where he developed his career. His father, Mario de Jesús Gómez Soto, said that, apparently, in the ravine where they were there were some stones that made a path.

As the flow of the stream was low and the atmosphere was serene, Carolina and a friend took a few steps on the stones to get closer to the frogs and better record the sound they emitted, but out of nowhere came an amount of water and earth that They took Carolina and one of her companions.

“The storm came and took my daughter and another girl who was there with her, the companion managed to grab a branch and managed to save herself, but my girl was caught by that storm and took her away,” says the father .

With the discovery of the body closes a painful chapter of uncertainty for the family. From Barbosa they thanked the fire departments, the Red Cross, the Government of Antioquia and EPM, entities that were linked to the search that was even carried out with drones that flew over looking for Carolina’s body.
