LOS MOCHIS.- Internet users denounced a criminal group that extorts tourists on public transport in Sinaloa.

“He won’t leave until the INE shows me,” says the alleged member of the criminal group in the video recorded by a passenger on a bus that left Guasave heading to Los Mochis on April 8.

“It’s illegal, who are you? Are you a public official? How am I going to show you my credentials?” a passenger is heard saying while video recording the subject.

In the video you can see how the subjects refuse to give details regarding their intentions and why they demanded to see the credentials of the National Electoral Institute (INE).

The subjects threatened the bus driver, told him that he might not start until the woman recording the video showed them her INEto which she refused and continued recording the video.

“You can’t record,” they tell the woman, who complained that their actions were illegal.

Moments later a man with a green cap and black t-shirt boards the bus and threatens the woman: “You can’t record, listen. We are going to take away the phone,” they say.

The passenger posted the video on social networks. Internet users identified the subjects as alleged members of “La Maña” due to their modus operandi.

According to Internet users, when the group known as “La Maña” identifies foreign tourists, and even local ones, they intimidate them and demand large amounts of money, between one thousand and two thousand pesos or more.

“Instigated people intimidate locals and tourists. They got on at the bus station and even the driver fled,” said one user.

In the case reported by the Internet user, it is presumed that the subjects demand INE credentials to identify foreign tourists since they would not have one and thus extort them.
