Four containers with a total of 65 tons of Cannonball Jellyfish (stomolophus meleagris) are ready to be exported to the Asian continent, specifically to countries like Malaysia.
The information was provided by the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture through a Press release in which he specified that in the context of the Inspection, Quarantine and Sanitary Protocol, Requirements for the Export of Wild Aquatic Products from Venezuela to China, the Government is advancing in the export of jellyfish processed by the Lucky Pesquería CA Plant, located in the Falcon State.
In this regard, it was noted that Insopesca, an entity attached to the Ministry, carried out the first recognition of said containers from the Bolivariana de Puertos (Bolipuertos) spaces in Puerto Cabello, Carabobo state, verifying compliance with the regulations for their proper export.
Likewise, he highlighted that this action is part of the measures to counteract the proliferation of the cannonball jellyfish in the Venezuelan coasts.
He explained that, in articulated work, researchers from the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Center (CENIPA) together with fishermen and fishermen carried out a analysis from scientific knowledge on the behavior and abundance of the species in the country’s maritime territory, in order to study and guarantee its use and economic sustainability.
In this way, the use of hydrobiological resources is guaranteed under the parameters of sustainable fishing, with the aim of preserving the resource over time, said the ministerial entity.
