The former director of the Municipal Police of Caroní was arrested on October 17, 2021.
The house arrest for Saúl Cordero was executed after little more than four months of being ordered.
The precautionary measure was granted by the Fourth State Court of First Instance in Control Functions with jurisdiction in cases related to terrorism crimes, on March 15.
Cordero remained confined in the El Rodeo III Judicial Detention Center, in the state of Miranda.

The former director of the Municipal Police of Caroní was captured by officials of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) on October 17, 2021 in Puerto Ordaz.
On October 18, the presentation hearing was held but the case was declined to Caracas.
Saúl Cordero had been charged with the crimes of terrorism, arms trafficking and criminal association, however, these charges were dismissed.
Later, he was accused of usurpation of functions, conspiracy and illegal possession of weapons.
