The National Agricultural Society (SNA) demanded that the Government take measures to reinforce road safety and do not rule out mobilization, while the National Confederation of Cargo Transport (CNTC) asked to summon COSENA and requested the presence of the Armed Forces.
According to the president of the National Agricultural Society (SNA), Antonio Walker, “we have seen how organized crime gangs have moved to rural communes and make the work of food production very difficult.”
“It has also become a very dangerous activity, due to the theft of supplies, machinery, equipment, and fruits,” he added.
Next, Walker anticipated that during this day they will go to La Moneda with the purpose of leaving a letter “to demand, not to ask (…) measures to reinforce the safety of the roads.”
This, along with “the horticultural terminals, the critical infrastructure of this entire country, because we have to protect the food supply chain.”
For its part, the National Confederation of Cargo Transportation (CNTC) asked to have “all available resources to reinforce security on the streets and routes of the country, a response that must necessarily include the use of the Armed Forces.”
He also asked the government to “leave ideological prejudices in this matter” and summon the National Security Council (COSENA).
